About the Individual Parts
Classic Tamper - Vitamix engineers designed the Classic Tamper to help break up air pockets that can form during blending, enabling you to accelerate the process of mixing very thick and/or frozen mixtures and keep your mixture moving perfectly.
Simple to use, this special tapered design is 31.8 cm long, to be used with the Classic Vitamix 64 oz/2 Litre containers. The tamper fits securely through the lid with no risk of damage, as it includes a collar that keeps it from touching the blades during processing. You can use the tamper to press ingredients into the blades as you make frozen ice creams and nut butters, or to purée fruits and vegetables.
The smaller Mini Tamper is 24.8 cm long. It is designed to press ingredients into the blades of 0.9-litre or 1.4-litre containers, to enable you to process either thick or frozen mixtures with ease. Like the classic model, it is made of BPA-free plastic and can be washed on the top rack of a dishwasher.
For the latest models such as the G-Series with the shorter, Low Profile (LP) containers, the Low Profile Tamper is compatible with both their 64-ounce/2.0-litre and 40-ounce/1.2-litre LP containers. It, too, is made of dishwasher-safe BPA-free plastic, and it is also 24.8 cm (9.75 inches) long.
The Fitted Wrench (which is also known as the Plastic Retainer Nut Wrench) is for the larger plastic ring the blender container sits on top of (not for the smaller drive socket the blades fit into).
Retainer Nut - Please note there are different retainer nuts available for use with different blender containers and blade assemblies. Please ensure you select the correct one to match the nut you're seeking to replace. The standard Vitamix Retainer Nut for Eastman Tritan containers features a red O ring. The Heavy Retainer Nut is matte black and a little thicker and heavier; it fits the BarBoss, BarBoss MP, Drink Machine, Vita-Prep, Vita-Prep 3, and Vita-Pro Series
The Wet and Dry Blade assemblies are designed to either pull the food down through the blades during processing (the 'wet' style, which comes standard with the machine); or to push them up and away (making that 'dry' style the better choice for grinding dry grains or kneading sticky bread dough).
