Natural Approaches to Women's Health
In a modern world in which women's health is not only a major field of legitimate interest, but also a major source of revenue, the case can be made that many of the results and products emerge from a world of science and technology dominated by men; while this has led to some advances, it has also arguably led to the forgetting of much experiential wisdom that used to be passed down from mother to daughter through generations of women, concerning not only the best health practices, but also matters of herbal supplementation.
However, various cultures throughout the world have managed to retain this wisdom, and much of the field of women's natural health is based on these cultural memories. Awareness and consideration of women's health issues - particularly those related to the reproductive system - is not at all new, and many of the products we carry are based on traditional herbal treatments. Sage, black cohosh, dong quai, and vitex are traditional means of treating issues related to menstruation and menopause. D-mannose (found in cranberries) and products designed to replenish vaginal flora can be helpful for issues such as yeast and urinary tract infections. Blessed thistle, fennel, and fenugreek are often used to improve lactation after pregnancy. Dindolylmethane from cruciferous vegetables are excellent for matters pertaining to hormone balance. These are just a few instances of the many traditional and natural women's health products we carry; be sure to browse our full selection, and contact one of our helpful staff if there is anything in particular you are looking for.
For products specifically geared to sexual health such as natural lubricants or natural means of improving one's libido or mood, please see our new Sexual Health sub-category.
