Product Notes:

NOW Real Food Erythritol is 100% pure and derived from a corn source. Erythritol resembles sugar in consistency and taste but has a caloric value near zero. It is also a great sugar alternative for diabetics. Erythritol, like Xylitol, may also inhibit cavities by denying plaque bacteria the fuel (sugar) it needs to erode tooth enamel.

Price may vary in-store. There may also be non-organic varieties available in-store either in 454g or 1kg sizes.

With a sweetness about 70% that of sucrose, a non-hygroscopic texture that prevents it from clumping, and easy digestibility, it's no surprise so many now consider erythritol to be their alternative sweetener of choice. Over the years, numerous studies have helped us better understand its benefits: it's completely safe for teeth, extremely low in calories, doesn't raise blood sugar levels, has zero "impact" carbohydrates, and is one of the most easily digested of all the sugar alcohols. And unlike most other sugar alcohols, this is unlikely to have a laxative effect, even in large amounts: doses of 1 gram per kilogram of body weight a day are typically well tolerated by adults (which would be 68 grams [or 17 teaspoons] a day, for a 150 pound adult).

One type here is also combined with Monk Fruit Extract, which is up to two hundred times sweeter than normal sugar, and has very little aftertaste, to make an ideal replacement for refined cane sugar in recipes whose taste might be more sensitive to a substitution.
