SAMe is a compound formed in the body by an enzymatic reaction between adenosine-triphosphate (ATP) and methionine. This nutrient works closely with folic acid and vitamin B-12 and functions as a methyl donor: carrying methyl molecules necessary to facilitate the production of DNA and brain neurotransmitters.
Tissue levels of SAMe are typically low in the elderly – the very people who may need adequate levels to contend with a range of health issues that taking SAMe as a supplement may be able to help with, including:
* alleviating minor joint discomfort resulting from overexertion, stress, or osteoarthritis;
* maintaining liver health (the liver is where most of this compound is naturally produced and used); and,
* being able to support a more positive mood.

SAMe 400 Ingredients:
Each tablet contains:
S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine (SAMe) Disulfate Tosylate: 800 mg, providing:
- 400 mg Ionic SAMe (Min. 70% (S), S-diastereoisomer)
Non-medicinal ingredients: Stearic acid, magnesium hydroxide, microcrystalline cellulose, calcium oxide, shellac, arginine, magnesium stearate, silica, talc, sodium alginate, and glycerol.
Contains no wheat, nuts, peanuts, sesame seeds, sulphites, mustard or dairy.
Part of AOR's Advanced series, this is a vegetarian, non-GMO, and gluten-free product.
Naming Note: This SAMe compound is sometimes referred to by other long form names (or the same name formatted differently) including S-Adenosyl Methionine, S-adenosylmethionine, and Ademetionine (more commonly used outside of North America).
Suggested Usage:
Adults: Take two or three tablets daily on an empty stomach, or as directed by a qualified health care practitioner. Use for a minimum of four weeks to see beneficial effects for osteoarthritic pain, and for a minimum of two weeks for mood support.
Warnings:
Do not take AOR SAM-e at night since this product may cause anxiety, restlessness, and insomnia. Consult with a health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, suffer from depression, or are taking medications which may influence serotonin levels (e.g. antidepressants).
