For those who may have difficulty digesting proteins due to a deficiency of stomach acid production (which decreases with age), Betaine Plus combines both a source of HCl (Betaine HCl) plus Pepsin, in a convenient capsule form.

Product Notes:

Betaine Plus to help support digestion and liver function. Our stomachs produce hydrochloric acid (HCl) to help break down the fats and proteins in our food so it can be absorbed, plus pepsinogen, which the HCl helps transform into its active form, pepsin – a proteolytic enzyme that breaks the larger protein molecules down into smaller molecules called polypeptides, which the rest of our digestive system can use for energy and structural building.

Ingredients:

Each capsule contains:

496 mg Betaine hydrochloride
140 mg (1 400 000 FCC PU) Pepsin (from Sus scrofa stomach)

Non-medicinal ingredients: Hypromellose (capsule), magnesium stearate, silica, cellulose.

Does not contain yeast, wheat gluten, soy protein, milk/dairy, corn, sodium, starch, artificial colouring, preservatives or flavouring.
