Lemon balm, a type of mint, has been used for hundreds of years as natural calming herb (both topically and internally).
Product Notes:
Topically, lemon balm tincture has been used traditionally to help heal wounds and venomous insect bites or stings; it's still used in creams today to treat cold sores.
It's also been used internally for digestive discomforts (such as gas, bloating, dyspepsia, or colic) and especially to help promote relaxation, reduce stress, and promote sleep. (Although it's often combined with other soothing herbs such as valerian, chamomile, or hops, for the latter purpose).
Modern research has found that Lemon Balm contains rosmarinic acid, which functions as a GABA transaminase inhibitor (i.e., it affects the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid, a mood-balancing neurotransmitter), which could account for its anxiolytic/anti-anxiety abilities.
Ingredients:
Each ml contains: 250 mg Certified Organic Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) aerial parts (1:4 extract).
Non-medicinal ingredients: 50% Certified Organic Cane Alcohol, distilled water.
Suggested Usage:
Adults: Take 2 to 4 ml, one to three times daily.
Warnings:
Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to using lemon balm if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Consumption with alcohol, other medications or health products with sedative properties is not recommended. Some people may experience drowsiness; exercise caution if operating heavy machinery, driving a motor vehicle or involved in activities requiring mental alertness. If taking as a sleep aid, consult a health care practitioner if sleeplessness persists continuously for more than 3 weeks (chronic insomnia).
