DMAE was previously available in Canada only in a prescription drug called Deanol, which was prescribed for Alzheimer's disease, autism, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and tardive dyskinesia (a movement disorder which is sometimes a side-effect of some drugs).
Health Canada has now licensed it as a natural health product (NPN: 80044323) for improving focus and for those or related memory and attention difficulties (including ADD/ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, and perhaps even ordinary memory loss related to aging), and it may also be able to help with some mood disorders.

Ingredients:
Each capsule contains: 250 mg DMAE (dimethylaminoethanol).
Non-medicinal Ingredients: Veg. Capsule (cellulose, water), Magnesium Stearate (vegetable source), Rice Flour and Silica.
Suggested Usage:
Adults: Take 1 capsule 3 times daily, preferably between meals. Consult a healthcare practitioner for use beyond 4 months.
Warnings:
Do not use NOW Foods DMAE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have liver or kidney disease. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking cholinergic or anticholinergic drugs, or if you have epilepsy, affective disorder, Parkinson's disease, a history of alcohol abuse or if you have a psychiatric or neurological disorder such as, but not limited to, depression, schizophrenia, seizure disorders. If you experience headache, muscle tension, affective symptoms, drowsiness, insomnia, confusion or change in mood, discontinue use.
