4 Bad Habits That Can Make You Look Older
When it comes to bad habits, people have their own reasons why they don't quit. Sometimes they don't care about the consequences. Other times they can't quit, or they simply don't want to do it. Some of these bad habits are smoking, stress and pessimism. Any of these bad habits makes us look older than we really are. Here's how we can beat them.
Smokers generally have persistent bad breath (also known as halitosis), yellow teeth and wrinkled skin. In addition, they may develop chronic cough and bronchitis. In time, smoking causes serious conditions such as lung cancer or cardiovascular diseases. What can be done? The first step is to be aware that cigarettes are bad for you, and that you need to quit. Once you've made up your mind to quit smoking, just try to stay away from cigarettes for as long as possible. Drink a glass of water, breathe deeply and find interesting things to do whenever you crave a smoke. On the other hand, think of how much money you save monthly. When you want to light a cigarette, remember that each cigarette shortens life by seven minutes.
Many people are pessimistic about their future. They can't help thinking that bad things will happen to them. The problem is that such gloomy thoughts and scenarios seriously affect their health in time. Because of this, they look much older than they really are. What can be done? Those who have such an attitude must change their way of thinking in order to keep their mental balance and body health. So, they should try to laugh more and see what's really important in life. To err is human, and, even if something bad happens, it's not the end of the world.
Poor Oral Hygiene
People who don't take the time to brush their teeth lose more than a beautiful and healthy smile. Poor oral hygiene leads to infections, due to bacteria accumulations which cause a series of problems such as: bad breath, cavities, bleeding gums, periodontal disease, and even heart disease or diabetes. What can be done? Always take the time to brush your teeth after every important meal, or at least twice a day - in the morning, before breakfast, and in the evening, before going to bed. See a dentist if your teeth hurt; postponing the visit will only make things worse. And, another thing: choose the right toothbrush and toothpaste for you. If you don't know how to choose them, ask a specialist. Most people underestimate the importance of this aspect. If you're one of them, remember: "better worry than sorry"!
Many people don't realize that bad moods, stress, anxiety may partially be caused by their partner. Or maybe they don't want to admit it. Arguments and disagreements between partners can have these effects in a relationship. Acting impulsively will not solve anything. On the contrary, things can get worse and stress level is likely to increase. In order to avoid this, it's better to talk calmly and openly about all the problems. Don't ignore the things that make you feel uncomfortable. You will accumulate frustrations and resentment, and you'll turn into a time-bomb.
Peace of mind makes people look younger. It is good to remember this if you want to conceal your real age. Your eyes can't glow when you feel bitter. Try to feel young and your face will show it. And, of course, quit your bad habits. It's worth it.
