Blending - An Easy Way to Create a Deliciously Nutritious Snack

Blending various foods, typically fruits and vegetables, is becoming increasingly popular. Fruit and vegetable smoothies provide busy consumers with an easy and convenient way to help take care of their nutritional needs. When made correctly, smoothies are a low-fat, low-cholesterol drink that is high in protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre, and other important nutrients. Additionally, blending allows you to customize your drinks to your own tastes and preferences.

Smoothies provide a superb source of vitamins and minerals, and can allow for better absorption than if the fruits and vegetables were eaten whole. A large amount of the beneficial nutrients are contained in the fiber of fruits and vegetables, and blending effectively breaks down the fiber releasing the nutrients in an easily-digestible state. Smoothies are also an excellent source of enzymes and co-enzymes. Enzymes are necessary for the proper absorption, digestion, and conversion of food. They generate energy and play an important role in the metabolic activities of the body.

In addition to the increased nutritional benefits, blending and drinking raw fruits and vegetables saves you time and ensures that you remain properly hydrated throughout the day. The natural fiber made available by blending aids in digestion, and the phytochemicals raw fruits contain may help to reduce the risk of cancer. Smoothies also offer a tasty alternative to boring vegetables, and are typically accepted by children much more readily than traditional, healthy snacks.

Blending is simple and does not require a lot of time or knowledge. It can easily be incorporated into even the most hectic morning routine, and requires less than 10 minutes of time. If there is not sufficient time available to blend in the mornings, set aside 10 or 20 minutes of time in the afternoons or evenings. Enjoying a smoothie during the time of day that your energy level normally drops will provide you with a nice boost.

The taste combinations blending permits are virtually limitless, and you can blend any variety of fruits, vegetables, and spices. Berries, melons, bananas, and kiwi and common favourites, and many individuals add ginseng, vanilla, nutmeg, or cinnamon for additional variety. Ground flaxseed can also be added to ensure adequate intake of important omega-3 fatty acids.

It is critical to minimize the use of added sweeteners, and instead rely on the natural sweetness produced by the foods themselves. If you find you need to sweeten up vegetable smoothies, look for a natural sweetener or try adding a little bit of orange juice or apple juice. It is not difficult to find smoothie recipes, and improvising often works just as well as following a standard recipe.

Instead of reaching for a bag of chips or a cookie the next time you are hungry, consider taking a few minutes to blend yourself a nutritious and tasty treat. The delicious taste, extraordinary health benefits, portability, and convenience of blended fruits and vegetables should make investing in a blender a priority for anyone who desires improved health and energy.
