Blueair’s Patented HEPASilent Filter Technology

A revolutionary combination of advanced filter media and an encapsulated ion particle charging chamber makes it possible for the Blueair air purification systems to achieve better results than either mechanical or electrostatic technology alone. Blueair’s non-toxic polypropylene filter contains millions of ultra-thin fibres that trap tiny particles as they pass through the pleats. One of the least harmful plastics for human health and the environment, polypropylene works without outgassing or shedding irritating microscopic fibres into the air. It eliminates bacteria, viruses and mold naturally, without chemical additives also captures more dirt than competitive air purifiers. And as used filters are discarded and decompose, the filter media converts into harmless carbon dioxide and water.

Particles a HEPA filter alone might miss are captured with an electrostatic charge. HEPASilent technology moves particles through an enclosed ion chamber, which attaches a charge to the particle itself. Charged particles cling more easily to the filter media, resulting in higher filter efficiency overall. Because most electrostatic air cleaners charge the filter media itself, the charge dissipates over time and renders the filter less efficient. By constantly charging incoming particles, instead of the filter, HEPASilent technology keeps on working effectively and reliably.

Superior Quality

Blueair is designed, engineered and built for people who expect the very best and don’t want to compromise on health, design or function. The Blueair system housing is made of galvanized steel, rather than less durable plastic. The fan and blower are manufactured by EBM, a maker of telecom and medical equipment. Blueair systems offer an exceptionally long product life and carry a 5-year limited warranty. Blueair offer California Air Resources Board (CARB) certified air purifiers.

10 Reasons to Buy a Blueair

(1) Blueair is the highest rated air purifier in the industry

Blueair units are one of the highest performing air purifiers on the market which is shown by its ratings from AHAM, highest CADR. Blueair 650E has higher CADR than what can be measured.

(2) Patented HEPASilent filter technology

Blueair delivers maximum airflow of clean air with minimum noise thanks to the exclusive HEPASilent technology, meaning excellent performance on all speed levels.

Air is drawn into the Blueair system through an ultra-quiet fan. Airborne particles pass an ionizer and get an electrostatic charge. This causes them to cling effortlessly to our gradient structured polypropylene filter media (odors are absorbed by the carbon medium in the SmokeStop filter that is available as option). This is why Blueair captures smaller particles more efficiently than standard HEPA filters or ion generators without high-pressure drop and high noise levels.

(3) Near silent operation

Noise levels at HEPASilent mode are as low as 32 dB(A) for all Blueair units. The quiet operation allows running the unit in bedrooms at nighttime, without disturbing the sleep.

(4) Highest quality product and components

Blueair housings are made of galvanized steel, rather than less durable plastic, assuring reliable performance. Units sold from the first batch ever made are today, over 15 years later, still running and supplied with filters.

(5) Warranty

Blueair offers an extended one year to two years limited warranty to assure you about the durability of the units.

(6) Easy to change filters

No tools required.

(7) Award winning Swedish design

The sleek contemporary design fits any interior décor. It’s unobtrusive and can be placed anywhere in the room.

(8) Easy to move around

Blueair units come with wheels (larger capacity models) or with handles (smaller capacity models).

(9) Low energy consumption

Blueair was the first air purifier brand to have all its units certified by the ENERGY STAR. Depending on the unit, Blueair uses from 10 to 120 Watts on maximum speed. Blueair ECO10 was the world’s most energy efficient air purifier when it came out.

(10) Zero Ozone Emission

The use of active ionization (particle charging) to capture particles should not be associated with dangerous indoor ozone. Tests show that our systems ozone concentration is actually lower than incoming air. Blueair units are continuously tested to meet safety limits of ozone emission levels.

Giving You Cleaner, Healthier Air (Video Transcript)

Air gives life to all living things. From our first miraculous breath the air we breathe is something we count on. A conviction taken to its edge in Sweden, one of the planet’s cleanest countries where the benefits and importance of clean air have long been recognized. So perhaps it’s not that strange that probably the best air purifier in the world was created here. Swedish born Blueair has become a global success story by revolutionizing air cleaning technology and setting a new standard for air purifiers. Today, Blueair delivers clean air to hundreds of thousands of customers in even the most polluted areas of the world.

Your home is constantly being bombarded by pollutants. To dramatically reduce the concentration of these pollutants you need to continuously clean the air, effectively, at a high rate. The performance of air purifiers is measured in CADR, clean air delivery rate. Thanks to Blueair’s patented HEPASilent technology we can achieve, both high air flow and high efficiency, with low noise and low energy consumption. This is why Blueair has won multiple awards including for making, not only the world’s most energy efficient, but also the planet’s highest performing air purifier.

Blueair Clean Air Certifications

Let’s take a look inside a Blueair purifier to understand how it delivers such great, clean air. Air is drawn into the purifier and into the ion chamber where every airborne particle picks up an electric charge which ensures that the pollutants are trapped with high efficiency by the fibres of Blueair’s naturally anti-bacterial progressive filters. Unlike the denser filters of our competitors which inhibit air flow and lower the clean air delivery rate, our unique electrical charge and gradient structure filter prevents clogging and reduces the amount of energy required to push the air through.

Finally, our ultra silent fan pushes only emission free air out into your home, office, or personal air zone, ensuring you breathe air as clean and fresh as nature intended. Blueair’s super efficient Scandinavian designed air purifiers reflect the contemporary belief that clean, pure air is a human right. So, join the Blueair family and take a deep breath of fresh, life enhancing air today and long into the future.

Blueair Air Purifier Selection Tips

Filter efficiency: When selecting an air purifier, consider performance first. Compare air purifiers using the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR). This measures how well a system removes pollutants from the air. The higher the CADR test numbers, the better the unit cleans indoor air.

Capacity: Measure the size of the room where you want to purify air. Choose a unit that can handle the total volume of air in the room. Remember that high ceilings affect the total cubic footage. Use the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) recommended room size to choose the correct unit.

Health Concerns: Air purifiers can improve air quality for those with allergies, asthma and other respiratory conditions. Blueair’s HEPASilent filters capture 99.97% of the smallest particles from dust, pollen and pet dander to tobacco smoke and viruses.

Legitimacy of Manufacturer Claims: When comparison shopping, AHAM is the most reliable source of unbiased information. Blueair purifiers are AHAM certified in performance tests that are recognized as accurate and impartial by the EPA, the Federal Trade Commission and the American Lung Association.

Indoor Environmental Factors: Environmental conditions impact a purifier’s performance and maintenance requirements. Blueair’s HEPASilent filters counter mold and bacterial growth without filter sterilization or the addition of chemicals.

Operating Cost: Check the manufacturer’s recommended filter replacement interval and costs. Generally, the most effective units are also the most costly to purchase and maintain on a daily basis. Look for the unit’s energy use, expressed as watts.

Construction Quality: Check the warranty to make sure it covers internal components, such as fans and blowers. The unit should be certified for product safety by organizations such as the Underwriter’s Laboratory or ETL.

Ease of Use: Replacing filters and periodic internal cleaning can require weekly additives, filter washing, heavy lifting and special tools. Other air purifiers have maintenance regimens that simply require a filter change. Select an air purifier that meets your requirements.

Warranty: Make sure that the air purifier carries a solid warranty. Most established manufacturers offer warranties ranging from three to five years.

Bells and Whistles: Confirm claims of a “whisper quiet” unit with specific noise values, expressed in decibels (dBA). Don’t assume that a large unit is more effective or that a small unit is less effective. Select a unit based on Efficiency and air volume capacity. Most units require specific clearance from walls and windows to operate effectively, so don’t forget to check the operating instructions for advice on air purifier placement.

Blueair provides highly effective room air purifiers with a focus on quality, energy efficiency and environmental care.

Video Transcript: At Blueair, our team of engineers and designers decided to do something about indoor air quality. Making a commitment to provide only superior technology, design and innovation. Making a commitment to deliver clean air to your home. The result, the Blueair air purifier with HEPASilent technology, which delivers more clean air at a faster rate with less noise than any other air purifier on the market. The indoor air we breathe is anything but clean, and with so many air purifiers on the market choosing one is anything but easy.

What do you want your air purifier to do for you? Most agree an air purifier should move large volumes of air at high levels of performance and energy efficiency without making a sound. Before Blueair, no single system could fulfill all of these criteria. Choices were limited to systems that use either electrostatic or filter technologies. Air purifiers with only electrostatic technology may be quiet but don’t clean a high volume of air. Washing collection plates may spare some expense, but won’t compensate for the lack of performance.

Air purifiers with only filter technology provide performance, but they drain too much energy and they’re loud. For these systems to work, noisy fans must force air through dense filters. The Blueair air purifiers combine the best of both electrostatic and filter technologies in one unique patented HEPASilent system. Blueair air purifiers draw in air using an ultra quiet fan. Airborne particles enter an ion chamber where they pick up an electrical charge. This electrical charge allows the particles to be trapped more efficiently by the fibres in our patented three stage progressive filters. Most filters in other purifiers are dense and consist of the same size fibre throughout, inhibiting air flow and clogging the surface layer of the filter.

The Blueair three stage progressive filters have millions of ultra thin fibres in three different sizes. Stage one captures larger particles like pollen and dust. Stages two and three filter out the smaller particles like cigarette smoke and exhaust. By removing particles in stages, Blueair filters resist loading and clogging, allowing air to move more quickly through the filter. It’s like having three filters in one. Since our filters don’t have to be as dense as regular HEPA filters, the HEPASilent system works with less force, which means high performance, energy efficiency and no noise. By combining the best of electrostatic and filter technologies, Blueair air purifiers deliver clean air and more of it. Independent tests show that Blueair air purifiers achieve the highest rated clean air delivery rates of 170 units tested.

Choosing an air purifier for your family is an important responsibility. With unique patented technology, sleek Swedish design, and proven performance, Blueair air purifiers deliver more clean air at a faster rate with less noise than any other air purifier on the market today.
