Info: 50 Softgels (50 mg Each)

Research supports the ability of butterbur extract to support healthy blood vessel tone in the neck and brain, which can help reduce the likelihood of migraine headaches, and help with tension headaches, and it also acts as an anti-inflammatory.

Product Notes:

Does your migraine prescription put you at risk for liver damage, hair loss, fatigue, memory problems or even rebound headaches? Prescribed by European neurologists since 1972, Petadolex butterbur extract has been safely used by more than 1,000,000 migraine sufferers to reduce migraine frequency and severity.

Petadolex is a standardized extract of Petasites hybridus. AOR uses an exclusive methodology to extract the key bioactive compounds Petasin and Isopetasin from the root of the plant, while eliminating the toxic pyrrolizidine alkaloids that are naturally present in all parts of butterbur.

Clinical Study: 71% of participants reported that Petadolex cut migraine attacks IN HALF (75mg strength, this product is 50mg). Less pain medication is needed less often!

Only Petadolex gelcaps are guaranteed to be:
* Safe: no harmful side effects, no known drug interactions
* Proven: clinically tested for migraines in US migraine centers - unlike beta blockers, anticonvulsants and Botox
* Well-tolerated: especially by children, in the 50 mg option
* Pure: at least 15% Petasin herbal extract with zero detectable pyrrolizidine alkaloids - PA-free
* Affordable: No prescription needed.

Preventive treatment to reduce the frequency of migraine headaches and associated symptoms as well as for the symptomatic relief of seasonal rhinitis. Are you suffering from migraines? If you suffer from debilitating headaches, here's some good news. Petadolex contains a standardized extract from the butterbur plant. Butterbur (Petasites hybridus) was mentioned by the ancient Greeks around 100 AD. It was used in the middle ages to treat the plague. In traditional phytotherapy, Petasites hybridus is described as having spasmolytic (muscle-relaxing) effects.

Relief for Migraine Sufferers

Migraines seem to be related to levels of the brain hormone serotonin. Best known as the hormone that regulates mood, serotonin also has an effect on blood vessels. High serotonin levels keep blood vessels constricted, while low serotonin levels cause them to dilate, or swell. It is the swelling of blood vessels in the brain that causes migraines. There are two types of migraines: classic migraines are often preceded by changes in vision called aura. It is possible to experience a classic migraine without headache. Auras do not precede common migraines, which involve pulsing, throbbing, or aching pain, often on just one side of the head. Migraines may also be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. A variety of things may trigger migraines, including some foods and drugs, bright lights or loud noises, changes in weather or altitude, stress or fatigue, low blood sugar, or hormonal fluctuations accompanying menstruation.

How it Helps Migraines

Petadolex is made from an herb called Butterbur (Petasites hybridus). The active ingredients in this herb inhibit the synthesis in the body of certain leukotrienes, substances that can cause spasms and inflammation. It is the antispasmodic effect that seems to provide effective support against migraines. In one study of 60 migraine sufferers, patients received either Petadolex or placebo twice daily for 12 weeks. Starting around the fourth week and continuing to the end of the study, the Petadolex group experienced up to a 60 percent reduction in number of migraines compared with the placebo group. The Petadolex group also reduced intensity of migraines, and a reduction in accompanying migraine symptoms such as nausea and vomiting. In another study, this one involving over 200 migraine sufferers, participants experienced up to 51 percent reduction in frequency, severity, and duration of migraines compared with individuals who took placebo.

Other Important Points about Petadolex

Petadolex is a medicinal preparation of purple butterbur (Petasites hybridus), also known as sweet coltsfoot. Although this herb has been used in traditional herbal medicine for centuries, only a medicinal preparation [standardized to 15 percent petasin and isopetasin and with pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs) reduced to less than .01 parts per million (ppm)] is recommended for therapeutic purposes. Petadolex meets these requirements and is considered safe for adults and children over 12.

May be useful for other spasmodic conditions, such as digestive tract spasms, lower back pain, and asthma.
