European Elderberry is a dark black and purple berry which not only contains vitamins A and C and has powerful antioxidant properties from its anthocyanins or pigments and its flavonoids like quercetin and rutin, but has also long been used to provide relief from cold and flu symptoms, including fever, as well as sore throat, coughs, and mucus buildup in the upper respiratory tract. This is one of the most concentrated forms of it around, with each capsule providing the equivalent of 4 teaspoons of fresh elderberry juice.

Product Notes:

The occasional cold or flu with sniffles and low grade fever is a fact of life, but many people inappropriately seek quick relief from antibiotics when a traditional herbal medicine can be a much healthier solution.

Elderberry is a terrific choice, since it can not only promote sweating to help relieve the fever associated with colds or flus, but it also has antiviral effects, and can serve as an immune modulator by helping increase the production of cytokine in those with underactive immune systems.

Elderberry comes in a variety of formats, including powders (which are prone to caking, if you don't keep their containers adequately sealed, and which generally require mixing it into something else) and liquids (which tend to contain alcohol and whose bottles are subject to breakage and are subject to contamination if users drink straight from the bottle).

This type, which is produced from berries from elder bushes grown in Austria which were then processed by water extraction, comes in handy capsules which represent a great value compared to many other brands when compared on DHE (Dried Herbal Equivalent) basis.
