Fresh Breath contains an extremely well-researched strain of oral probiotics that can improve the balance of healthy mouth flora and help reduce halitosis and unpleasant oral smells.

Product Notes:

Developed in New Zealand, and now available in Canada, BLIS K12 is a stain of beneficial bacteria that's naturally present in most healthy people's mouths which can help overcome bad breath.

The rationale for its use is quite straight-forward: bad breath is caused by the build-up of bacteria in our mouth, which generally come from the things we eat. While we can temporarily beat those back with good brushing and mouthwash techniques, they tend to bounce right back, unless we do something to change the ratio of all the different types of bacteria which take up residence in our mouths.

This particular strain of probiotics, formally known as Streptococcus salivarius Strain K12, has been shown to be able to do just that, when taken as directed. Used as part of a good oral health routine, BLIS K12 "crowds out" and prevents the less desirable strains of bacteria from proliferating, by occupying the places on the gums and the walls and roof of the mouth they would otherwise spread or return to.

Related Products: This same active ingredient is also featured in other BLIS Probiotics products including ThroatGuard PRO and Ears & Throat. It's also featured in a Probiotic Gum, from CulturedCare. We used to offer a similar BLIS K12 formulation marketed as 'NOW OralBiotic', but that product has since been discontinued in Canada.

Ingredients:

Medicinal ingredient: each lozenge contains:

Streptococcus salivarius (BLIS) K12: 1 billion CFU (Colony Forming Units)

Non-medicinal ingredients: Trehalose, lactitol, maltodextrin, isomalt, silicified microcrystalline cellulose, natural flavour, magnesium stearate.

This product does not contain wheat, gluten, soy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, fish or shellfish, but may contain trace amounts of milk protein from the fermentation process.

BLIS™ and BLIS K12™ are registered trademarks of Blis Technologies Limited and the subject of USA patent no. 6773912. "BLIS" stands for Bacteriocin-Like Inhibitory Substances.

Suggested Usage:

Adults and children older than 9 years: take up 4 lozenges a day for a minimum of 14 days.

Children 9 years and younger: take 1 lozenge a day for a minimum of 7 days.

In order to be effective, be sure to let the lozenges dissolve slowly in the mouth to give the individual friendly bacteria a chance to adhere to the soft tissues in the mouth: do not chew them or swallow them prematurely.

Warnings:

Do not use BLIS Probiotics FreshBreath if you have an immune-compromised condition (e.g. AIDS, lymphoma, patients undergoing long-term corticosteroid treatment) or a milk/dairy allergy. Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use if you have fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhea or severe abdominal pain. If symptoms of ear, nose or throat infections (e.g. fever, sore throat) develop, consult a healthcare practitioner.
