Teeth&Gums lozenges are powered by BLIS M18: another specific strain of beneficial bacteria that the New Zealand company BLIS Probiotics (the originators of a range of products containing BLIS K12) has identified as being naturally present in some healthy people's mouths.
Just as probiotic supplements designed for people's digestive or urinary tracts are designed to restore an imbalance of overgrown "bad" bacteria by recolonizing an area with "good" bacteria to "crowd out" the more harmful ones by occupying the spaces on the soft tissues where they all try to reside, BLIS M18 has been found to be able to promote oral health by crowding out the bad bacteria responsible for producing the plaque which can develop cavities and cause gum disease.
Of course, it can't repair cavities once they've already formed, and it's only intended to complement rather than to replace regular brushing and flossing, but BLIS M18 can help protect children against further dental cavities and help promote healthy gums in adults.
Medicinal Ingredient: each lozenge contains:
Streptococcus salivarius M18: 1 billion CFU (Colony Forming Units)
Non-medicinal ingredients: Trehalose, lactitol, maltodextrin, isomalt, silicified microcrystalline cellulose, natural flavour, magnesium stearate.
May contain trace amounts of milk protein from the fermentation process. This product does not contain wheat, gluten, soy, eggs, tree nuts, peanuts, fish or shellfish.
For adults, adolescents, or children five years old and up: Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth up to 2 times daily.
These lozenges are not to be chewed or directly swallowed: that would negate their effectiveness.
It is best to take BLIS Probiotics Teeth&Gums lozenges just before going to sleep, after brushing and flossing your teeth. There are two reason for this:
1) the active ingredient, the BLIS M18 beneficial bacteria, will be most likely to colonize in the mouth when it finds the conditions to be warm and moist, but not too moist, and we tend to produce much less saliva at night or while we are sleeping; and,
2) the longer the BLIS M18 stays in your mouth before rinsing it out with drink, food, or brushing, the more it can colonize.
Do not use dental probiotics if you have an immune-compromised condition or a milk allergy. This product is not intended to replace brushing or flossing.
