Product Notes:
A Natural Enzyme Formula to Help Reduce Gas
One typically associates developing gas or bloating with heavy meals rich in animal fat (whether from meat, gravy, or dairy). But vegetarian dishes can pose challenges, too -- particularly if they have a lot of fermentable carbs, as many legumes (especially red kidney/chili beans!) and whole grains do.
To address that, Douglas Labs GI Digest includes one enzyme, alpha-galactosidase, specifically for hastening the digestion of those carbohydrates in order to reduce their gas production as they ferment, but it doesn't stop there.
It's actually a far more comprehensive enzyme formula with all the digestive enzymes needed to properly digest dairy, fats, gluten, proteins, and other types of starch, as well, but they're all from non-animal sources, so it's suitable for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
