You can use this earthing pad as a rug for your feet anywhere you may be sitting (as long as it is within 16 feet of a grounded plug or a grounding wire); or to sit on (as long as you make at least partial contact with your skin, such as bare thighs if wearing shorts or a skirt); or as a wrap; or even as bedding for your cat or small dog.
This Plush Earthing Throw Pad is made of natural unbleached cotton, with a 'striped' connective surface on one side, and a soft, plush flannel surface on the other, to either prevent slipping or to use partially as a small throw blanket or wrap for your lap, shoulders, or other areas.
It uses interwoven silver threads to ground your body via a grounding plug connected to a power outlet or a grounding rod. It comes with a 5 meter (16.4 feet) long grounding cord, for use in the round slot of a properly grounded standard three-prong electrical outlet. If your cord gets lost or damaged, Replacement Earthing Connection Cords are also available.
Earthing or grounding is when a direct connection is made between the skin of a person's or animal's body and the earth to receive its electrons -- whether through walking on soil with bare feet, or when connected to the ground in some way via wires or conductive threads, as here. There has been some research indicating this may have anti-inflammatory effects and may help bring about improvements in immune response, energy levels, or mood, among other things.
Place your Earthing Throw Pad wherever you would like to use it. Then snap the smaller end of the included grounding cord onto the connector on the black receptor tab of the pad, and insert the end of into one of the round holes of a grounded wall outlet. If you want to use it in an area without a grounded outlet, use the optional Earthing Rod / Grounding Wire (sold separately).
These natural unbleached cotton throw pads are machine washable on the Gentle cycle, and should be done in WARM water, at least twice per month or preferably weekly to ensure that your natural skin oils and other substances will get removed from the silver threads to keep them conductive.
Use a mild liquid laundry detergent -- but about half as much as you might use for other types of comparable loads, and do not pour the detergent directly on the throw pad (either add it to the water before loading the pad, if it's an older style machine where you add the soap directly into the washing, or use the tray dispenser which automatically mixes it with water, on a newer machine).
Do NOT dry clean, or use: bleach; whitening or oxidizing agents (such as Oxi-Clean); fabric softener; or detergents containing Essential Oils; as these can all impair the conductivity of the silver threads. (Similarly, do not apply lotions or essential oils on yourself within an hour of using the pad, or if you do, you should wash it more frequently.)
If the throw pad gets stained, use hydrogen peroxide as a spot treatment to remove it prior to washing: just pour or spray a little hydrogen peroxide onto the area; let it soak in; then dab the stain away with a clean cloth or towel; and wash the after, as usual.
Hanging it on a line to dry would be best, but it can also go in a dryer, on low; do not use dryer sheets.
It may be ironed, but only using low heat.
During electrical storms, it is recommended that you disconnect your earthing devices and not use them.
Be sure that your grounding throw pad does not come in contact with body creams and oils, which can reduce conductivity.
