Camu camu is an extremely rich source of vitamin C (with 60 times more per serving than an orange), which is good for healing and for the gums and connective tissues, and may have anti-fungal, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Some use it for viral infections such as herpes, cold sores, shingles, or the common cold; others for eye conditions, and for a host of other conditions, as well. This powdered form of camu camu comes from fresh berries grown in Peru: the whole fruit, which was dried slowly at low temperatures, to get all the nutrients and co-factors, for maximum absorption.
Camu camu also has other antioxidants such as flavonoids, gallic acid, and ellagic acid; and contains potassium (which is needed by the heart and kidneys); and the essential amino acids valine (which is important not only for nervous system and cognitive function but also to prevent muscles from breaking down), leucine (which is needed for keeping up muscle and bone tissue), and serine (which helps us digest proteins and polypeptides).
Ingredients:Organic, Raw, Whole Camu Camu Fruit Powder (Myrciaria dubia)
This powder reconstitutes to a tart berry flavoured juice when dissolved in water; you may want to add coconut sugar to that. You can also add it to other foods, including jams, yogurt or ice cream, smoothies, or other juices.
Warnings:Some caution that camu camu can interfere with some chemotherapy medications.
