Gua Sha or "scraping" tools have been used for many centuries in China to stimulate acupressure points, blood circulation and lymphatic and nutrient flow and facilitate healing.

Product Notes:

Facial rollers have been used hundreds of years in China as part of a now increasingly popular 'Gua sha' skincare routine. Some of their principal functions are common to any type of massaging device - to increase blood flow, reduce stress and inflammation, and induce relaxation - while others are unique to the face: to enhance the absorption of the skincare products (by redistributing and rubbing them in), to reduce puffiness and redness (by cooling the skin and stimulating lymphatic drainage), and maybe even to help clear the sinuses.

Historically, people began to notice that in addition to relieving puffiness and tension, this process seemed to help clear up the skin and reduce wrinkles, as well. In more recent years, many spas and beauty centres have been offering Gua Sha facials or even full body massages (massage stones are often used for similar purposes).

Suggested Usage:

A gua sha tool is meant to be gently pressed all over your neck, face and décolletage (with some exceptions, expressed in the Warnings section).

Use the Facial Massage Roller every morning after your regular skin care routine (especially after applying some type of moisturizer or serum, which helps lubricate its action), rolling with short, gentle strokes, being extra careful near the eyes.

Some experts advise that you use a rose quartz type in the morning, and jade during the rest of the day and at night.

Similarly, the Gua Sha massage stones can be used to gently massage the face, and to assist the absorption of skincare products.

To get a more intense and prolonged cooling effect, keep your GuaSha tools in a bag in the fridge between uses.

Warnings:

Be sure to clean and dry the roller with a soft cloth after each use (to prevent bacteria build-up and redistribution).

If you have received Botox or dermal filler treatments, some recommend that you avoid using gua sha stone tools directly on those areas for two to four weeks after that, respectively.

Pregnant women should be advised that some caution that there is a slight risk of gua sha facial massages triggering uterine contractions.
