Vitamin K2 plays a critical role in building and maintaining healthy bone tissue, because it activates osteocalcin, a special protein needed to bind calcium to the bones, and K2 is also more apt to benefit cartilage and soft tissues, as well (compared to Vitamin K1).
MK-7 has a better effect on both bone and cardiovascular health by activating osteocalcin and MGP (the Matrix Gla protein, which inhibits soft tissue calcification and can help prevent calcium from building up in the arteries).
