The fermented tea drink which originated over 2,000 years ago in China known as Kombucha or "The Tea of Immortality" or "The Immortal Health Elixir", has been gaining popularity in both Europe and North America in recent years due to its believed diverse health benefits such as aiding with digestive issues, detox/cleansing effects, ability to ward off bladder/kidney infections, reducing symptoms of allergies and asthma, soothing skin problems, aiding in weight loss, reducing joint pain, and much more.

Product Notes:

Kombucha is a mixture of tea, sugar, and fruit juices along with a fermented yeast and bacterial culture (which is referred to as "SCOBY" for a "Serendipitous Culture of Bacteria and Yeasts"). The result is a naturally carbonated and slightly acidic beverage that is loaded with probiotics, commonly known as "good" gut bacteria.

If you're interested in making your own Kombucha, we also now stock Tonica's DIY Kombucha Kit.

We carry a wide variety of Kombucha beverages in our Winnipeg store produced by several companies, including: Brew Dr., GT's Organic Raw Kombucha, Live, RISE, and Tonica. Kombucha products come in a variety of flavours and sizes, and in-store stock is subject to change. Please contact us to confirm availability of a specific product.

As these beverages are in glass containers that require refrigeration to preserve their live cultures and should not be severely shaken, they are only available in-store.

Ingredients:

The ingredients may vary a fair bit, depending on the brand and flavour. For a representative example, one type (Rise - Rose & Schizandra) contains: Filtered water, kombucha culture, raw evaporated cane juice, rose petals, wood betony, green tea, schizandra berries, and hibiscus flowers.
