Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder affecting up to ten percent of women of childbearing age. Not only is PCOS a leading cause of infertility (it can interfere with ovulation and the quality of the developing egg cells by causing many small cysts (or fluid-filled sacs) to form, which enlarge the ovaries), but it may also entail a host of symptoms related to hyperandrogenism including abnormal hair growth, acne, fluctuations in blood sugar and insulin levels, menstrual irregularity, mood imbalances, weight gain, sleep apnea, and more.
Inositol
Advanced PCOS Relief combines two forms of inositol which studies have shown to be very helpful in managing this condition. Although inositol was once thought of as a B-complex vitamin, and is still described as "B-vitamin-like," it is actually a type of carbohydrate - a sugar alcohol - present in many plants such as citrus fruit, grains, and legumes, as well as in animals like us (we synthesize it from glucose). It plays many roles in the body, including helping regulate how we process insulin.
PCOS contains both myo-inositol, its most abundant natural form; and d-chiro-inositol, a type our own bodies produce in a much lesser amount from that first form. Each type has slightly different functions in the body, but there has been a great deal of research over the past several decades indicating high doses of either type can have a powerful effect on improving PCOS symptoms by improving insulin resistance and reducing hyperandrogenism.
But the clinical results have been mixed on whether they are equally able to support better oocyte (immature egg) quality, induce more normal ovulation, and support better embyro quality in higher doses - with some studies indicating too much d-chiro-inositol can be counter-productive, on those matters.
However, several studies have shown that a combined administration of both myo- and d-chiro-inositol in a 40 to 1 ratio was the most effective way to support normal androgen levels, insulin activity, metabolic parameters, mood balance, and ovarian function, simultaneously, so that is the ratio AOR uses here.
Folic Acid
Advanced PCOS Relief also contains folic acid in its bioactive form. People need folic acid to maintain healthy hormonal, reproductive, brain and heart function, and it can help maintain healthy blood sugar levels and reduce inflammation and oxidative stress and improve inositol's effects in persons with PCOS. Since not everyone can sustain the enzymatic activity needed to convert the standard type of folic acid to its most active, usable form - 5-MTHF (also found in AOR MaxMethyl), that is the type used here.

Suggested Usage:
