Product Notes:
Probiotics are generally recognized for their ability to support digestive and immune health, but what's far less appreciated is that certain strains can benefit cardiovascular health by staving off high cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Purica's Probiotic Cardio is now available in Canada through their collaboration with the Japanese probiotics powerhouse Kaneka. In some markets, this same product is sold as 'Floradapt Cardio Probiotic,' which is featured in these videos outlining its features and likely mechanisms of action, and it was originally called AB-Life by its initial producers in Spain.
Probiotic Cardio combines three patented strains of Lactobacillus (or lactic-acid emitting) bacteria, which were isolated from healthy humans and clinically tested, with a proven ability not only to survive the normal digestive process to establish itself in the intestine after being ingested and not produce any serious adverse effects, of course, but also to significantly reduce levels of LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) Cholesterol, Total Cholesterol, Oxidized LDL, and TG (triglycerides).
The researchers involved in this combination believe it achieves this by working on three fronts at once: not only do these bacteria actually assimilate some of the cholesterol they encounter (thereby taking it out of circulation themselves), but they also prevent cholesterol from entering the bloodstream by hastening the production of BSH (bile salt hydrolase).
BSH in an enzyme which normally only degrades (or 'deconjugates') bile salts after it's done its job of emulsifying or spreading out fats so they can get absorbed, plus they help produce more short-chain fatty acids in the colon (by fermenting indigestible carbs), which can help reduce how much cholesterol and triglycerides our own livers produce and also how many free fatty acids get released from our fat deposits.
