Info: Stainless Steel Steamer with Removable Tray
CLEARANCE. This large* two-piece stainless steel steamer is quite versatile. As with any steamer, you use it with your pot or pan's existing lid to enable healthier eating by reducing how many nutrients get lost, by raising the vegetables above the boiling water which heat them (instead of immersing them in the water which absorbs the nutrients, which then get thrown away when the water is drained). And thanks to its two-piece design, you can first grasp it by the two main outer handles to extract the whole unit from the cooking pot to drain it and place it on the counter; and then when it cools a bit, you can pick up just the bottom tray with the vegetables on it and place it on the counter for easier access for the serving utensils, or even on a waterproof trivet on the table for people to serve themselves.
* Although designed for Scanpan's own 10-1/4" diameter pots and sauté pans, this steamer will also work with other pots and pans of the same size, with their lids acting as seal and cover.
Another feature of the Stack N Steam is that it is stackable, so if you have a very deep stock pot or Dutch oven and a lot to cook, you can steam up several different layers of items overtop each other, which will not only save on time and the cleanup afterwards, but also infuse the flavours.
Dimensions: The removable platform tray with the fold-down handles and dozens of holes in it is slightly over 10 inches in diameter. The outer ring ranges between nearly 10-1/8 inches in exterior diameter at its bottom to 10-1/4" at the lip where it would normally rest, up to 10-3/4" at the top (slightly over 13" including handles).
For best results, use 2 inches of water during the steaming process.
