Are you suffering from joint pain? Curamin with DLPA may be just what you need. It contains three types of natural anti-inflammatories (curcumin, boswellia and ginger) to reduce the stiffness and swelling at the source, along with a form of the essential amino acid Phenylalanine to help reduce the pain.

Product Notes:

Curamin is Terry Naturally's especially bioavailable BCM-95 form which has been formulated with phospholipids and turmeric essential oils to give it up to ten times more bioavailability than standard 95% curcumin extracts, and with a much greater retention time. This is combined with BosPure, a form of Boswellia serrata that reduces much of the latter's more undesirable beta-boswellic acid elements while bringing you up to 10 times the amount of its most beneficial component, AKBA, making this a valuable Ayurvedic anti-inflammatory. Similarly, ginger can affect inflammatory processes at a cellular level and help reduce pain, not only in the joints, but also in the intestinal tract (to help relieve any upset the other ingredients might cause). Finally, DLPA helps keep up our levels of endorphins and enkephalins - our body's natural painkillers.

Curamin with DLPA comes in two types – with all the same ingredients (except for the composition of the non-medicinal ingredients which compose the actual tablets or capsules encasing or delivering the active ingredients), but in different ratios.

In short, the standard version has over twice as much curcumin as the Plus type, but less of everything else. The Plus version has two and a half times more Boswellia; twice as much ginger; and probably most importantly, a third more DLPA – which may be the most critical factor for alleviating the pain, for some, since it influences how the pain receptors in the brain operate by inhibiting the enzyme which breaks down the endorphins and enkephalins which act as painkillers. (As an added Plus, DLPA can also increase dopamine levels, which can improve mood.)

Is it okay to take Curamin Plus with DLPA and Curamin with DLPA at the same time?

You can take both of them at the same time however, because everyone responds differently to herbal medicines, you may want to start with Curamin Plus with DLPA for initial benefits, and then use Curamin with DLPA as a daily maintenance supplement.

Curcumin, which is extracted from the spice turmeric, has been shown in clinical trials to decrease biochemical markers of inflammation (including cytokines, interleukins and cell adhesion factors: see refs. 1, 2, 3) while having a pain-reducing potency similar to that of Tylenol/acetaminophen (4). In addition to reducing inflammation by blocking the cox-2 inflammation pathway, curcumin also blocks oxidation, with its antioxidant properties; it is currently being studied for its beneficial effects on a number of conditions (5). But curcumin can be a difficult molecule to absorb, resulting in a lot of waste; Curamin solves this problem by utilizing a micro-particle sized form known as curcumin BCM-95 which has been recombined with turmeric essential oils to increase its absorption by nearly 700% so you have as much benefit as possible (6).

The anti-inflammatory and pain killing effects of this highly absorbable form of curcumin are further enhanced by Boswellia serrata – another anti-inflammatory powerhouse which clinical trials have shown results in joint pain relief in persons with osteoarthritis, as measured by multiple rating scales (7,8). Boswellia appears to work by inhibiting the pro-inflammatory enzyme 5-Lox, and it may possess other anti-inflammatory effects, as well (9). In a clinical study, pain and joint stiffness were reduced and mobility increased in just 7 days; benefits seemed to increase on a case-dependent basis until after between one to three months of supplementation with 100mg of Boswellia standardized to 20-30% boswellic acids (10). Curamin uses a higher concentration – 100mg of Boswellia standardized to 40% boswellic acids (the compounds within boswellia resin that exert the positive effects) – to achieve a maximum benefit.

While Curcumin BCM95 and Boswellia confer anti-inflammatory effects to enable you to get moving again, this formulation also contains Vitamin D3, which is known to support bone and cartilage structure for the development and maintenance of healthy joints (11) and Boron, which assists in the proper absorption of vitamin D3, calcium, magnesium and phosphorus from foods while assisting the body in utilizing these crucial components of bone structure.
