Neem is a type of tree native to India whose leaves, fruit, seeds and even bark have been used in Ayurvedic and other medical traditions for millennia, for a variety of healing properties.

Collectively, Neem's various constituents, extracts, and resins have been shown to have antiviral, anti-fungal, antibacterial, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties – which can help keep gums healthy. The twigs of the tree itself have also been used for oral care / cleaning: Neem is even known as the Toothbrush Tree in some quarters.
This herbal toothpaste uses "supercritical extracts" of Neem bark and leaf and some other herbal ingredients – meaning, the most active parts of those herbs were extracted from their surrounding plant material using a process similar to distilling water, in which ordinary Carbon Dioxide is used to steam off and concentrate those ingredients, rather than chemicals or extremely high heat.
