Info: Replacement HEPASilent Particle Filters for Blueair Pro M/L/XL Air Purifiers

There were originally three types of filters designed to work with the Blueair Pro series of air purifiers: the traditional HEPASilent Particle Filter (which is still in production, but not always immediately available); a SmokeStop filter designed to remove more gases and odors than the particle filters alone; and a Carbon+ add-on option to supplement either of the first two. The latter two have both been discontinued.

Product Notes:

Blueair's Pro Series filters work with any of Blueair Pro models, whose principal differences are in the size of their cases and the minimum number of filters used in each. (The Pro M models can use just 1 of a given type at once; the Pro L requires 2; and the Pro XL will need 3 of whichever type you select.)

HEPASilent

The standard 3-stage HEPASilent Particle Filter is for removing allergy-inducing airborne pollutants such as pollen, dust, dust mites, pet dander, bacteria or viruses, and other particles.

SmokeStop (discontinued)

The thicker SmokeStop filter starts with that standard particle filter and adds a one inch layer of activated carbon to also remove gaseous pollutants such as tobacco smoke and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). VOCs are gases given off by indoor sources such as household paints and cleaning products. Production of these filters was discontinued by Blueair in 2023.

Carbon+ (discontinued)

There was also an optional Carbon+ Filter, which is thinner than the other two, and can be used as an add-on to either of them, for rooms where even heavier gaseous pollutants may be an issue, such as when there may be exhaust fumes coming in. It features activated carbon, alumina and other binders selected for their ability to remove heavy gaseous pollutants.

All three Pro filter types fold or pivot out to become V-shaped once installed, but they can be closed up like a book when you remove them to replace the filter, to spare you from breathing in the pollutants while disposing of them.

Blueair's fiber media is free of chemicals and binders and has been ultrasonically bonded to prevent new particles from being added to your environment during its operation.

Blueair Pro Filter Change

When the time comes to replace your filter, the filter LED icon will light up. There are two filters in this range to choose from: the Particle Filter, and the SmokeStop Filter. Along with these filters, you can also use the Carbon+ Filter addition for extra protection.

When receiving your new filter, simply open the Blueair Pro casing, disengage the old filter, and pull it out. Notice that the dirt stays inside the fold, keeping you from getting into contact with it. Now you can install your new filter. Close the casing and reset the filter timer by pressing directly below the red filter replacement indicator for approximately 10 seconds, until the indicator has flashed and disappeared.

With your new filter installed, you can recycle the old one. Blueair, clean air for everyone.
