Collagen Bone (Fortibone) from CanPrev combines a number of effective vitamins, minerals, and collagen peptides into one powerful formula.
After our bones' growing and consolidation phases are done, starting around the age of 30, we reach the "remodeling" phase, which involves both resorption (where 'osteoclasts' secrete enzymes and acids to dissolve older bone tissue and release its constituent minerals into the blood) and formation activities (where 'osteoblasts' secrete collagen which subsequently becomes mineralized, resulting in the formation of new bone), with the former increasingly outpacing the latter, ending up with a loss of bone density making you more susceptible to fractures.
But because bone formation is such a complex matter involving a combination of calcium and other nutrients and other factors working in concert, this new formulation from CanPrev has combined a number of proprietary ingredients from specialized nutritional supplement developers to support a healthy and stable bone matrix.
Calcium
Like The Bone Health Triangle – a similar product from one of its partners – Collagen Bone begins with supplying three strong partners in support of bone health. It combines a highly absorbable form of calcium with its cofactor vitamin D3, and a proprietary form of soy-free vitamin K2 called K2VITAL (the most readily absorbed, most traveled, and longest available type), to help ensure that the calcium reaches the bone mass where it is needed, among other things, and also to help prevent calcification in the arteries.
Magnesium
Collagen Bone also adds magnesium to the mix, since adequate levels of it are needed for the proper absorption and metabolism of calcium to help increase bone mineral density, and to inhibit other factors such as osteoclast cells and the parathyroid hormone from drawing calcium out of our bones to supply it to our soft tissues.
Like the calcium, this magnesium is also delivered in a highly absorbable, trademarked bis-glycinate chelate form.
Fortibone - Bioactive Collagen Peptides
Last but certainly not least, CanPrev adds one other cluster of ingredients to the Collagen Bone formula: FORTIBONE – a specific blend of Bioactive Collagen Peptides derived from cattle. The reason for this is that Collagen isn't just an important structural part of our skin or of the cartilage in our joints – it actually forms an integral part of our organic bone mass, as well (comprising about 20% of our total bone mass, in all), providing a matrix of sites for the calcium mineral crystals to bind to, which remains somewhat flexible and elastic, in order to keep the bones from being too weak or brittle.

Fortibone consists of short-chain amino acids which have been specially processed to be of very low molecular weight in order to optimize their passage to where they are needed to help rebuild the bones. They have been selected to be of the right size (5 kilodaltons: the symbol on the front label) and sequence to target the appropriate cells in the connective tissue to stimulate the osteoblasts (the bone producing cells) to synthesize more collagen for the bone matrix to promote remineralization, and to hamper the activity of the osteoclasts (the bone reducing or dissolving cells) to counteract bone degeneration.
A clinical study has shown supplementing with 5 g of Fortibone a day for a year brought about a significant and pronounced improvement in in BMD (Bone Mineral Density) in women suffering from osteopenia or osteoporosis.
FORTIBONE consumption showed a significant improvement of bone density.
