Just as there are endorphins (chemical signals produced within the brain to block the perception of pain and increase feelings of well-being, whose name is short for "endogenous morphine"), research has shown that there are also externally delivered, dietary versions of those opioid peptides called exorphins, which can also produce feelings of euphoria which may come at the expense of having your full wits about you.
