The number of uses for genuine licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) makes it one of the most unique herbal remedies available. It may have a positive effect on ailments from asthma, fatigue, and cold and flu symptoms, all the way to helping with baldness, dandruff, and may even aid in supporting those with immune conditions.
Most commonly, however, licorice root is used as a natural expectorant, helping to remove mucus from the body through a process of liquefying it. Some also regard it as an effective antidepressant, which may come about from stimulating the adrenal gland to release more hydrocortisone.
Licorice Root has long been used for a wide range of health conditions and complaints, including: stomach distress and ulcers, inflammatory problems, arthritis, adrenal insufficiency, Addison's disease, hypoglycemia, cirrhosis and liver damage, skin problems, rashes, dermatitis, impetigo, coughs and bronchial complaints, bacterial infections, constipation, and as a female tonic.
Many of those uses are due to the fact that licorice contains the glycoside glycyrrhizin, which has a similar structure and activity as the steroids our adrenal glands produce naturally. That's why it's been used for mild Addison's disease and other adrenal insufficiencies such as hypoglycemia, and why it's been found to useful for arthritis and allergies, since it has an anti-inflammatory activity similar to cortisone's.

Ingredients:
Each vegetable capsule contains 470 mg of Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice) (Root and stolon).
Non-medicinal ingredients: Vegetable magnesium stearate in a non-GMO vegetable capsule composed of carbohydrate gum and purified water.
GMO free. Contains no preservatives, artificial colour or flavour, sugar, milk, starch, wheat, corn, soy or yeast.
Suggested Usage:
Adults: Take 1 or 2 capsules twice daily or as directed by your health care practitioner.
Warnings:
Keep out of reach of children. Consult a healthcare practitioner for use beyond 4 to 6 weeks, or if symptoms persist or worsen. Consult a health care practitioner prior to using Licorice Root supplements if you are pregnant or have a liver disorder. Do not use if you have hypokalemia, high blood pressure, or a kidney or cardio-vascular disorder. Do not use NewRoots Licorice Root if you are taking thiazide diuretics, cardiac glycosides, corticosteroid, stimulant laxatives or other medication which may aggravate electrolyte imbalance.
