As ornithine gets converted into arginine (or into other amino acids such as citrulline, proline, glutamate, or creatine), it can also help maintain healthy levels of those in the body and serve as a muscular energy source.
Other causes of high blood ammonia levels besides exercise can include poor kidney or liver function, whether due to diseases like hepatitis, enzymatic problems, or various kinds of drugs (including some prescription drugs and alcohol).

Suggested Usage:
