Like the many diverse functions of the thyroid gland, there are numerous components that keep the thyroid healthy. Iodine is a key factor in the functioning of the thyroid, as it, along with tyrosine, helps synthesize the thyroid hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). Forskolin, derived from coleus extract, along with the herbs ashwagandha and guggul have equally been shown to support normal thyroid metabolism and hormone function in the body. In addition, the antioxidant properties of curcumin combined with vitamin A, vitamin C, selenium, and guggul help neutralize the free radicals that limit the conversion of T4 to the more biologically active T3 hormone.
