Of course, cordless razors are not new, but they generally require some sort of adapter, dock, or cable to charge their internal batteries up (which are usually non-replaceable), which are inconvenient to bring along with you while traveling, especially if it's to somewhere with different voltage. Similarly, even if you have a great rechargeable shaver at home, you may not always keep it fully charged, so if you suddenly want to go away for a weekend on the spur of the moment where you might need some touching up, it might not be there for you. But with the Soft Touch Plus shaver, which operates on just a couple standard triple-A batteries, you're always good to go, even if you don't tend to have them around yourself, since they're available at practically any grocery, convenience or drug store, among many other places.
Apart from using disposable alkaline rather than rechargeable batteries or a power cord and not having replaceable heads (at least not at this point), this has the main features you would expect from an electric shaver: a floating blade design with contoured stainless steel foil head, to help protect against skin irritation; AND a trimmer (there are fine teeth on one side of the blades, which you use at an angle for that, without making contact with the skin).
