The silicone is heat-sealed onto the handle to prevent food from seeping into crevices to contaminate subsequent dishes. The handle is made of 18/10 stainless steel, and includes a loop for hanging, and the silicone head is highly heat resistant: up to 500F/260C. It is 12 inches long (30cm), altogether (the spoon- or scoop-shaped head (which is classified as having a 'Curry' colour) is 3.5" long and as much as 5/8" deep, and the handle is 8" long). It, too, is dishwasher-safe.
