Product Notes:
There are two main classes of topical sunscreens around: those which use chemical or organic means of absorbing and transforming the two types of harmful UV light into a harmless form of infrared heat which gets dissipated, and those which use a physical means of both reflecting and scattering the sunshine (especially for the visible portions) and absorbing the UV rays.
This is an instance of the latter, which Viva Health Skincare has been developing and perfecting for six years.
Viva Solis Mineral Lotion uses the mineral compound zinc oxide as the active protective factor, which is widely recognized to be both safe and effective for both UV-A (with an SPF of 30, at this strength) and UV-B rays.
This water-soluble lotion has a lightweight, non-greasy texture, goes on sheer, and won't leave a white residue or smudge if you sweat.
While chemical sunscreens run the risk of irritating the skin and eyes (and harming coral reefs, if you happen to be swimming near them) and should be reapplied every two hours in the sun, mineral lotions of this strength are far less irritating and provide more 'bang for the buck,' since they only need to be reapplied every three hours.
Naming note: this new Canadian-made product is currently called "Viva Solis Mineral Lotion" pending the successful completion of its licensing approval process for a Natural Product Number (NPN) from Health Canada, which would permit sales as a 'sunscreen lotion'.

This is a cruelty-free, vegan product which contains no: artificial fragrances, perfumes, or colourants; formaldehyde; gluten; parabens; phthalates; sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS); or titanium dioxide.
Suggested Usage:
Shake well before using. Apply and massage evenly to face, neck, and body after moisturizing; rub it in until you can no longer see it. Use continuously throughout the year. Reapply every 3 hours when exposed to the sun.
Store in a cool, dry place.
