Product Notes:

Freeze-drying is one of the best conservation methods there is to not only preserve the health benefits of elderberries, while also keeping their shape intact, enabling you to recreate their original texture (which is both crunchy and fluffy at the same time) simply by rehydrating them.

The 50 gram bags (temporarily unavailable) of freeze-dried organic elderberries contain the equivalent to a little over half a pound of fresh elderberries, while each capsule contains the equivalent of 2.5 grams of fresh elderberries.

Ingredients:

Bags: Organic Elderberries, harvested by hand.

SURO Elderberry+ Capsules: 500 mg of organic freeze-dried elderberries (Sambucus canadensis), equivalent to 2500 mg of fresh elderberries, in a capsule made of pullulan and purified water.

Certified organic. Grown in Canada.

Suggested Usage:

Capsules: Adults and adolescents aged 14 and up: Take 2 to 3 capsules, 2 to 4 times per day for the relief of cold or flu symptoms such as coughs, sore throat, and catarrh of the upper respiratory tract.

For those 10 to 13 years of age: Take 2 capsules, 1 to 4 times per day

Whole Berries: Add them to yogurt, smoothies, cereals, pancakes, syrups, or in muffins or other types of baking...or simply make them as a tea. (Or make them as tea, and add the berries to other foods after.) You can either reconstitute the berries in a little water first before adding them to other foods, or not, depending on your personal preference and how much fluid there is and how long it would be suspended in that fluid before being consumed or heated.

To make a tea, pour 8 ounces of hot water (82C/180F) over 1 tablespoon of the freeze dried elderberries. Allow them to soak in hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. You can filter it before drinking, but need not -- the berries are of course completely edible.

Warnings:

For Capsules: Consult a healthcare practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult a health care practitioner. A diuretic effect may occur. Hypersensitivity (e.g. allergy) can occur; in which case, discontinue use. Discontinue use in case of gastrointestinal upsets, such as abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
