Herbal Treatments to Relieve Menopause Symptoms

Nichewriter

Menopause is not something that most women look forward to. The hot flashes, the moodiness, and the constant abdominal cramps prove to be too much that many women would give anything not to have to go through the whole experience. Fortunately, there is an effective way to at least reduce some of the effects caused by menopausal changes in the body with a few herbal supplements. The herbs that are useful for relieving menopause symptoms are very common and can be found in the kitchens of most homes today.

Hot flashes, regardless of how cold the weather is, are the most common and most inconvenient symptoms of menopause. There are several herbs that can be used to counter hot flashes. These herbs include sage, liferoot, and red clover. Some menopausal women may also experience drastic psychological changes, or even become depressed. Dried damiana leaves or the fruit of the chaste tree can be used to treat menopause symptoms. The famous ginkgo biloba is also very effective in regulating psychological changes.

Some herbs, like shepherd's purse, can help minimize the occurrence of abdominal cramps and vaginal bleeding. Taking the dried leaves and flowers of this herbs may help ease the pain of cramps in no time. However, shepherd's purse causes the inconvenient side effect of having longer periods prior to menopause. Women who prefer not to experience this side effect can try other remedies such as black cohosh and liferoot.

When approaching menopause, estrogen levels in the body becomes highly erratic, which may lead to moodiness and bloating. Dried roots of the dong quai, a Chinese herb, or the false unicorn root can prevent these side effects of high estrogen levels. Fresh raspberries also work wonders for regulating the estrogen levels in the body.

Herbal medications have been used for hundreds of years for various medical conditions, including menopause. Herbal treatments, for the most part, have been found to be efficacious. While herbal treatments are made completely from all-natural ingredients and are among the safest medications to use, it is still wise to talk to your doctor to make sure the herbal treatments you want to take to relieve your menopause symptoms are safe to take with any other medications you may already be on.
