Hair loss and thinning are experienced by both men and women. It can have many causes, such as stress, poor nutrition and exercise, medicines and environmental pollutants. Some hair thinning problems can be controlled with diet and exercise because it can promote better blood circulation. Herbal treatments are available today that can improve thinning hair as well.

Aloe Vera

Aloe vera is known to promote hair growth and improve thinning hair. It contains a substance called aloenin that stimulates the hair follicles. Aloe also soothes the scalp, which helps in cell turnover so new hair will grow. Aloe vera is available in an extract form, which are the juices from the plant's leaves that can be placed directly on the scalp for thirty minutes then washed off. Many conditioners contain aloe vera.

Fenugreek

Fenugreek seeds are full of vitamins and nutrients needed for proper hair growth and can help stop thinning hair. They can be consumed as seeds to ensure an adequate intake of protein, iron and vitamin E. Also, the dried leaves of the fenugreek plant can be made into a paste and applied to the scalp regularly before a bath. After leaving it on for about twenty minutes, hair growth can be promoted. Fenugreek is known to protect hair colour.

Sage

Sage oil can be added to regular shampoo or used as a rinse to maintain a healthy scalp. Thinning hair and poor hair quality can be the result of an unhealthy scalp. This essential oil acts as a tonic to increase the pH and stimulate blood circulation and hair growth. It is also a natural antiseptic that can kill germs on the hair and scalp. Germs can hurt the integrity of existing hair quality and young hair follicles.

Apple Cider Vinegar and Sage

Apple cider vinegar is a natural cleaning remedy used in the house. The vinegar has a very high pH which will break down dirt, dissolve minerals, toxins and dust particles. It is gentle enough to use on hair. Apple cider vinegar contains nutrients and malic acid which is similar to citric acid. This plays a role in skin rejuvenation leading to healthier hair growth and less thinning of the hair. Simply combine one part apple cider vinegar to one part sage oil and leave in for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Function of Arnica

Arnica is also referred to as arnica montana. This herb is part of the sunflower family. The derivatives found in the plant roots are shown to be effective vasodilators of the subcutaneous blood capillaries which are found on the scalp. This in turn promotes healthy blood flow to the hair follicles. It is used topically in the oil form and massaged into the scalp. It will feed the hair roots overnight. Many arnica oils contains rosemary which acts as a tonic on the scalp.
