Info: Choose Either Main Combination Filter; Or Pre-Filters (in Several Colours)
These are the two types of replacement or supplementary filters needed exclusively for the relatively rare manual (i.e., non-automatic) version of the Blueair Blue 311 Air Purifiers (which are a slightly different size from the Pure 311 Auto): the main filters, which combine a white, pleated outer layer to capture particles and an activated carbon layer in the middle for smoke and odors; and the fabric prefilters, which come in 5 colours in tweed patterns, as shown.

Product Notes:
Like all the other members of the Blue Pure family, the 311 uses two types of filters:
* a main combination filter situated within its base where the air gets drawn in to capture 99.97% of airborne pollen, dust and germs down to the 0.1 micron level in its HEPASilent particle filter area, along with a range of smoke or other gaseous emissions and odours that can be trapped by the activated carbon in its inner layer. These filters need to be changed about every six months, if used 24/7, or whenever the light around the control button on top turns red.
* a coloured fabric pre-filter that envelops the entire base, not only for decorative reasons but also to catch pet hair and larger dust particles there in order to prevent the main filter from getting saturated too quickly. These come in a choice of two shades of gray or three other muted colours. Although they're reusable and designed to be used indefinitely, you may want an extra one either to always have a dry one ready to swap out when opt to wash one, or to have them in more than one style if you intend to use if in different rooms with different decors. These prefilters all include a Velcro-style fastener on one face, to hold any excess length of cord close to the machine.
Compatibility: These particular prefilters are designed only for the 311 model, and not for the 311 Auto, which is a slightly different size and has its own series of prefilters (in the same colours).
Related items: The SmokeBlock filters for the Blue Pure 311 Auto and the pre-filters for the 311 Auto are also available.
Cleaning and Replacement Instructions:
Please refer to the owner's manual for the full instructions, but basically, you just need to unplug the machine, twist its head off, liberate the cord in the concealed pocket at the back of the prefilter, and peel down the prefilter, in order to reveal and change the main filter, as partially shown in this video.
The prefilters themselves can be cleaned simply with a good vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment every week or two (or whenever a layer of dust becomes visible) while they're still on the machine, and you can also take them off and wash them in a washing machine at a low temperature on the gentle cycle and let them air dry, if desired.
