Ceramides are fat-based molecules that make up about half the content of the outermost layer (the epidermis) of healthy skin, where they help hold the skin cells together (like the mortar between bricks) and maintain the skin barrier between the outer and inner layers, which keeps moisture in. But as with so many things, we produce or retain less of it as we age or expose our skin to the sun, and genetic factors can also play a role in weakening the skin barrier, so it makes sense to try to replenish it to combat dryness and cracks and fine lines and wrinkles.
Canprev Beautiful Skin features Ceramosides: a form of plant-based (or "phyto-") ceramides extracted from wheat germ/seed, which is also rich in a compound called digalactosyl diglycerides (DGDG), a natural emulsifier to boost the ceramides' bioavailability or absorption rate.
