TendoForte Bioactive Collagen Peptides

Collagen is the fibrous protein which helps form and hold bodies together and facilitates movement. It comes in many types (depending on which areas of the body it's located or the types of tissue (e.g., skin, cartilage, or bone) it helps form), and many people may need help producing it as we age or get injured.

While many natural health companies submit we really need to pay heed to those different types (usually I, II, or III) or their sources (e.g., animal or marine) to have a collagen supplement be most beneficial in rebuilding some particular area, CanPrev maintains that what matters most isn't so much where it came from, it's the actual size and shape of the individual pieces of collagen proteins (or 'peptides') being circulated.

In this case, their cattle-sourced collagen has been broken down into tiny pieces (with the help of enzymes) which were then filtered to isolate just the ones with an average molecular mass of just 2 kilodaltons (2kDA): the ideal size for stimulating tendon and ligament repair.

That's because to really influence collagen production effectively, it's not simply a function of supplying the right balance of all the amino acids which make up those proteins for the body to be able to reconstruct more, it's also important to signal the relevant cells that actually produce the different types of collagen that it's high time for them to do that.

Otherwise, as soon as it gets digested (i.e., broken down into all the individual amino acids), most of the collagen supplement (or even just bone broth) you just consumed might go to some other purpose – such as rebuilding muscle!

Fortunately, if they're already small enough to be absorbed by the small intestine to enter the bloodstream as-is (as this type is), research indicates that when the peptides circulating in the blood are in certain key size ranges, they're able to influence the vast majority of the relevant skin, hair, nails, and tendon and ligament collagen-producing cells (for the 2 kDa size), or cartilage producing chondrocytes (for the 3 kDa size), or the bone fibroblasts (for the 5 kDa size) to start producing more of their respective types of collagen.

This is because the receptors in the relevant protein producing cells are attuned to certain size fragments which can fit them like keys entering locks. Apparently, the body interprets the presence of these free-floating collagen fragments as evidence of an injury in need of repair.

Pre-clinical and clinical trials (including on strengthening the mechanical stability of finger ligaments; on runners who had been sidelined by chronic Achilles tendinopathy; and on people with unstable ankles) have shown TENDOFORTE can strengthen tendons and ligaments significantly, improve flexibility, and decrease the risk of injury, especially when combined with physical activity.
