If you've ever tried the no-name brands, you probably know not all cotton swabs perform alike. Some have tips that are too lightly packed and quickly become frayed or simply aren't up to the job. Others aren't affixed well, and the tips actually come off under pressure. Others shed lint, leaving a bit of fluff in or spoiling the lines of makeup or nail polish or paint you may have been using them to apply. Others may still have traces of chlorine or some other chemical agent used to bleach them, which could irritate sensitive skin.
