Product Notes:
Jojoba Oil is extracted from the large seeds (which are more like nuts, like acorns) of an evergreen shrub native to the American south-west. Although it has many of the same topical uses as many plant-based oils, such as to moisturize the skin and hair or to serve as a carrier oil to dilute more concentrated or irritating varieties, it stands apart from them by consisting almost entirely of wax.
While most oils used in cosmetics are over 95% triglycerides, Jojoba Oil is their polar opposite, being about 97% liquid wax (technically, esters of monounsaturated, long straight-chain fatty acids and alcohols). That difference is likely what accounts for many of its additional uses, which include as specialized lubricants. That may seem off-putting, until you realize that own skin and scalp has sebaceous glands which also release wax esters to coat our hair and skin, both to retain internal moisture and for some degree of external waterproofing (similar to the lanolin on sheep's wool). Wax esters only make up about one quarter of our sebum, though, so jojoba oil really kicks that up a couple of notches. You could think of it like Viagra for the skin and hair - except of course to make them more supple, not stiff.
