Product Notes:
Diatomaceous Earth is the fossilized remains of microscopic shells created by one-celled aquatic plants (diatoms). This multi-purpose, naturally-occurring mineral has been found to be safe to use for nourishing plant soil and household cleaning. For household use, there are multiple applications for diatomaceous earth including: non-toxic cleaning, for use as a mild abrasive for polishing, as a desiccant to absorb moisture; and can safely deodorize refrigerators, garbage cans and litter boxes. DE may aid in pest prevention as a natural mechanical insecticide. For personal use, diatomaceous earth can be used as a facial mask or scrub, and can be added to toothpaste for extra polishing power. Of the 600 deposits in the United States, only four are considered Food-Grade.
A Natural Cleaner for Your Home
DE can function as a deodorizer for garbage cans, kitty litter boxes, vacuum cleaner bags, refrigerator, and footwear. Use also as a soft scrub cleanser or as silver polish.
Naming Note
Diatomaceous Earth is known by a number of other names including diatomite, kieselguhr and fossil shell earth. DE dust works with a physical or mechanical action, not a chemical one so there is no danger of a reaction with other products or concerns about overdosing.
Supporting the Immune System (for Livestock and Pets)
Reported in scientific literature, DE absorbs and eliminates methyl mercury, E. Coli, endotoxins, viruses, drug residues, and some intestinal infections. Many other benefits of Silica for immune health include: contribution to formation of collagen for bones and connective tissue; stimulates cell metabolism and cell formation; inhibits the aging process in tissues; strengthens elasticity and firmness of the blood vessels and increases the elasticity of lung tissue; excellent for repairing damaged and thinning nails, hair, eyelashes, and skin; and reduces pain in sore joints. If used in animal feed, this DE anti-caking agent is to be mixed at a rate not to exceed 2% of the dry weight of the rations.
As a Dewormer
DE should eliminate most worms within one week to 10 days when being fed daily. It doesn't affect the eggs, so you must feed for an additional 30 to 60 days to destroy newly hatched parasites. Mix with wet food or water once a day. For puppies and kittens, add to milk.
Dosage instructions for deworming:
Kittens: 1/2 teaspoon
Cats and Puppies: 1/2 - 1 teaspoon
Dogs under 35 lbs: 1 teaspoon
Dogs 35 - 50 lbs: 2 teaspoons
Dogs over 50 lbs: 1 tablespoon
Dogs over 100 lbs: 2 tablespoons
Poultry: Mix with feed at a 2% concentration
It is safe to increase dosage when deworming. To be most effective, do not miss days during treatment.
Bug Killer
A type of 'mechanical' insecticide, many also report that Diatomaceous Earth can be useful for helping to get rid of bed bugs and other crawling insects around the home because of its desiccant properties. If bugs walk through and get covered with it, it destroys their waxy, protective outer coating, which can lead to their dehydration and death in about a week. DE may be helpful in conjunction with attractants and other conventional approaches to insect control.

FDA Approved Food Grade 100 Diatomaceous Earth (Amorphous non-crystalline silica).
Consists of at least 89% Silicon Dioxide plus 28 trace minerals. Contains less than one half of 1% of crystalline silica and is considered GRAS (generally regarded as safe).
