Whether you're an avid marathon 'power walker' or just need to walk your dog each day, no one wants to get wet feet or soaking wet shoes in the process. So to enable you to keep walking in comfort, come rain or shine, kybun has developed a new type of upper, featuring a single, continuous piece of ripstop nylon - the same sturdy material many hot air balloons are made from - with no stitching required, that's been reinforced with structural laminated panels. That sits atop one of kybun's deepest types of proprietary air-cushioning soles: the Strato, with the full-rebound effect, to ease the strain on your joints and back and help improve your posture and gait and strengthen your leg muscles with every step.
Although they're only being produced in the same two clusters of sizes as their regular Men's or Women's shoes, the Flims can be considered a unisex model, inasmuch as they have identical designs, apart from colour variations. (Currently, there are only these two colour patterns available, but later they may have a mainly green model in the women's sizes, and an alternate of the men's in a lighter shade of grey with yellow rather than orange accents.)
Sizing Advice: Kybuns are manufactured in Switzerland and Italy, geared to European sizes, and they have recently shifted the U.S. equivalents for their women's models by a half size to match what their sister company, Joya, has been doing. Plus they tend to be a little wider than many brands. So to select the appropriate size - and thus model - it might be best to start by actually measuring the length of your foot in centimeters and looking up your corresponding European size as indicated in their table (while also taking into account which toes are longest), as explained in our Recommended Sizing for kybun Footwear with Wide Soles page.
Once you know your European size, you'll need to select the Women's model if it's the four smallest sizes between 34 ⅓ and 38 ⅓ (since they don't make the Men's smaller than 39), or the Men's if it's the 9 largest sizes between 43 ⅔ and 49 (since the Women's maxes out at 39). But if you're in that sweet spot between 39 and 43 where both models are produced, you have the option of choosing either one - bearing in mind that the women's models are apt to be slightly narrower than the men's for the same length.
