Product Notes:

Glandular tissue therapy (GTT) – administering parts of the glands of other animals to people in order to help heal, reconstitute, and/or improve the functioning of their own corresponding glands – is a therapeutic practice that has been around since at least the early 1900s. Thyrodine is the first natural health (as opposed to prescription) product licensed to provide more than just slight extracts of the thyroid gland for this purpose.

Thyrodine Thyroid Gland vs Thyrodine Thyromoto

Thyrodine from Life Choice comes in two forms, with the principal difference being that the Thyromoto type is iodine. Thyromoto is thus more suitable for those with iodine sensitivity due to an autoimmune disease, such as people with Hashimoto's Disease (also known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis, chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis or autoimmune thyroiditis).

There are three mechanisms by which Thyrodine can exert its therapeutic effect:

(1) Supplying the active components and/or specific nutrients to the thyroid gland

The glands and organs in animals and humans share many identical characteristics (e.g. the iodine supplied from a desiccated thyroid gland) that supports our body's unique biochemical pathways to run more efficiently. In addition to this, glandular tissue provide ample nutrients including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, polypeptides, nucleic acids (RNA & DNA) and enzymes.

(2) Serving as an adaptogen

Adaptogens are biochemical compounds that increase the body’s resistance or adaptation to any physical, environmental, emotional or biological stressor and helps promote normal healthy functioning. The tiny polypeptides (minute protein-like substances) have highly specific messenger activity and directly act on target tissues. By stimulating activity in certain target tissues (such as in the thyroid gland), these polypeptides may be capable of either down-regulating or up-regulating thyroid gland functioning depending on the need (e.g. if hypothyroidism is present it can elevate its functional capacity and if hyperthyroidism is present it can soothe an over active thyroid gland).

(3) Providing a tissue sparring effect

By supplying the necessary raw materials (enzymes, vitamins, proteins, etc.) specific to the thyroid gland, a burdensome load may be taken off of the organ which can provide it an opportunity to repair and regenerate more effectively over time.

So if you're someone who is experiencing thyroid dysfunction or are simply looking to prevent thyroid dysfunction from occurring, one of these two formulas may be right for you.
