Product Notes:

Got Milk? Sometimes we may wish we did, whether because we're expecting company, or we want to start baking, or making yogurt or kefir, or maybe we've simply run out ... can't get to a store. Regardless of the reason, powdered milk is an excellent option for daily use and to keep on hand.

Made by a local company here in our hometown of Winnipeg, this 100% Canadian product has been packed in special foil bags to preserve its freshness.

Ingredients:

Powdered Whole Milk (3.25% milkfat), fortified with Vitamin D3.

Nutrition Facts

Each cup of milk prepared from 30 grams or 3 Tbsp of powder provides: 160 calories; 8g of fat (13% of a person's recommended daily value), 5g of which are saturated fat and 0.2g are trans fat (for 27% of the rec. daily value of those two combined); 30mg of Cholesterol; 110mg of sodium (5% of DV); 12g of carbohydrates (4%) -- all sugars; and 8g of protein; and supplies 10% of your recommended Daily Value of vitamin A; 25% of the recommended Calcium Daily Value; and 50% of the recommended Vitamin D Daily Value.

Suggested Usage:

Keep the bag of powder tightly closed in a cool, dry place. It has a shelf life of 9 months from its time of production when kept unrefrigerated.

Use cold water to reconstitute the powder into liquid milk. To optimize its smoothness and flavour, it is best that you mix it the night (or at least 8 hours) before you plan to use it. Keep the rehydrated milk refrigerated, as you would with regular store bought milk.

To make 1 Litre of milk, it is best done in a large shaker container with a lid:

1. Place 1 cup (250 ml) of water in a shaker, and then add 1 cup (or 14 tablespoons, or 125 g) of powder.

2. First swirl the container around gently to get the powder wet.

3. Then shake the container vigorously (with the lid on) for 10 seconds.

4. Finally, add 2 more cups (500 ml) of water, give it another thorough shake, and place it in the refrigerator overnight (or for eight hours) before drinking.

If you only need to make one cup or glass of milk at a time, you only need 3 tablespoons (30g) of powder. You could either adopt the same method (by adding the 3 Tbsp of powder to an equal volume of cold water, swirling it around to thoroughly wet the powder, shaking it, adding the final half cup of water, and shaking it again) ...or simply mix the 3 Tbsp of powder into a glass of 220 ml of cold water with a fork or whisk.
