To carry out its main purpose of reducing the inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract lining and repairing and protecting its lining, GUTpro provides ample amounts of L‐Glutamine (an amino acid which serves as the primary building block for the intestinal walls) along with N‐Acetyl‐Glucosamine (aka NAG: a naturally occurring amino sugar which helps that rebuilding by increasing the blood flow to the digestive tract, which brings more oxygen and nutrients there to assist in that process). In addition to leaky gut, these can also help protect against and/or reduce the symptoms of Crohn’s disease and colitis.
GUTpro also includes two types of demulcents to provide a soothing and protective film on the mucous membrane on the inside of that lining: Aloe Vera Leaf Gel and Slippery Elm Bark. In addition, it has Licorice Root, which is also used traditionally in herbal medicine to soothe the digestive system, except here it's the Deglycyrrhizinated version (DGL), which can do so without increasing the blood pressure. It uses a spore-based type of bacterium (LactoSpore) which has been proven to be able to survive the passage through the stomach to be able to successfully colonize the intestines because it lays dormant protected in its cellular 'space pods' until getting activated when it passes through the stomach.
Of course, it wouldn't do to invite these probiotics into a hostile environment teeming with more harmful types of bacteria only to let them become famished, so Natra also supplies two types of prebiotic fibre to nourish them when they get to where they're needed: pectin, from apple peels, and inulin, from chicory.
