Goji Berries are high in antioxidants and can help protect our eyesight (with zeaxanthin) when eaten. But as with several other 'superfoods', their seeds likely have a number of beneficial topical uses, as well. These include: increasing the skin's elasticity; helping it hydrate; protecting it against UV damage; and evening out its tone and minimizing the appearance of fine lines and age or sun spots, especially around the eye-contour area. It's also very gentle, even for the most sensitive skin.

Product Notes:

This plant-based oil is truly one of the more "Exotic" members of New Roots' new line of Exotic Beauty Skincare Oils, since Goji berries (also known as wolfberries, presumably because wolves were often seen eating them in China, where they were first mainly grown) are not that well known in North America apart from those with south Asian lineage, largely because the fresh fruit has a high water content and is quite tender, so it doesn't travel well.

The light-textured moisturizing oil extracted from Goji seeds has far more phytosterols than most nutritional oils, and is exceptionally high in essential fatty acids (about two-thirds of which is linoleic acid: a polyunsaturated Omega-6). These lipids can promote new skin cell development; combat inflammation; and improve the skin's natural barrier, both by strengthening the outside layer, and by helping restore balance between water and sebum in the hydrolipidic film (also known as acid mantle) atop it.

Goji Seed Oil also contains protective carotenoids (including zeaxanthin) and polyphenols, as well as tocopherols (forms of Vitamin E), which help the skin maintain its elasticity and firmness and diminishes the appearance of freckles and age spots.

When used on a regular basis, it can help smooth out wrinkles or stretch marks, increase elasticity, and even out skin tone. And while some denser types of oils might induce "milia seeds" (little white or yellow bumps of trapped dead skin cells) on the eyelids and temples, Goji Seed Oil is particularly well suited to using around that delicate eye-contour area.

Organic Goji (Lycium barbarum) seed oil, CO₂ supercritical extract, nondeodorized, with added natural vitamin E (tocopherols) as a preservative.
