There are many uses for ginger in herbal medicine, primarily to help relieve digestive upsets or disturbances, including: lack of appetite, nausea, digestive spasms, indigestion, dyspepsia, and flatulent colic (carminative). Ginger also has several constituents that may support healthy cardiovascular function, encourage a balanced immune system response, and may even help temporarily alleviate menstrual pain.
Ginger is a tropical perennial that grows 3 to 4 feet high. Fresh ginger root is commonly peeled or sliced and added to stews and other dishes for taste, and is also made into various forms of candy (and cookies, or other forms of gingerbread). Ginger Root capsules can be taken either as-is, as regular supplements, or emptied out and used to make ginger tea. (Natural colour variations may occur, both in the product and in the tea.)
Each capsule contains: 550 mg Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale) (rhizome).
Other ingredients: Gelatin (capsule), Magnesium Stearate and Silica.
For those age 6 and up (although in the U.S.A., it is only recommended for adults): take 2 capsules daily, with meals. For prolonged use, consult a healthcare practitioner. Store in a cool, dry place.
