Fiberlicious® is a sweet tasting water-soluble dietary fiber extracted solely from 100% pure chicory root to produce a natural compound called inulin, which falls under the category of Fructooligosaccharides, or FOS: low-calorie carbohydrates composed of short fructose chains that resist getting digested in our upper GI tracts.
Consuming inulin or FOS can have several benefits:
- If we take it with meals or as a snack replacement, it can help us manage our weight by slowing digestion and making us feel full, to prevent over-eating.
- It can also promote regularity and ease constipation, by drawing more water into our stools (which is why it's important to drink it with water: it dissolves in it and forms a gel).
- It also acts as a prebiotic, providing a source of energy to the beneficial bacteria in our large intestine which ferment it as it slowly makes its way through there, which help them produce more short- chain fatty acids like butyrate, which in turn can reduce inflammation, shore up the gut lining, and improve immune function.
- It can improve the absorption of calcium and magnesium, which can help maintain our bone density, among other things.
- It can even help regulate cholesterol (particularly the LDL-C (Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol), or 'bad' types) as well as blood sugar levels!
Ingredients:
Each 1 tablespoon dose provides:
9 grams of Inulin (fructo-oligosaccharides [FOS])
Non-medicinal ingredients: None.
Suggested Usage:
Younger people, aged 6 to 12 years old: Take 1/2 tablespoon once a day.
12 years old and older: Take 1 tablespoon twice a day.
Directions: Mix the powder into 8 to 12 ounces of pure water or a beverage of your choice. Take a few hours before or after taking other medications (if applicable).
Store bottle at room temperature (15-30°C). Protect contents against moisture (keep tightly sealed).
Warnings:
Do not use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Discontinue use if hypersensitivity occurs. May cause abdominal pain, bloating, or flatulence.
